Why does Word of Truth Baptist Church use only the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible? Today there are literally hundreds of so-called versions of the bible on the market. Some of these versions promise: "easier to understand," "reads more like a novel," or even the words "reliable" and "trustworthy." However, are these "new" versions really the Word of God? Let us find out. Are the new versions perfect or complete? Psalm 18:30 "As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him." God's way is perfect and He would not give His people an imperfect Bible to trust, because this would be out of His character. Many new versions take out some of the most important verses to the very truths of God and the way to know Him. Here are just a few comparisons between the King James Version (KJV) and the New International Version (NIV): Who fell from Heaven: Jesus or Lucifer? KJV, Isaiah 14:12-15: "How are thou fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how are thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! [13] For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: [14] I will ascend above the height of the clouds; I will be like the most High. [15] Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit." NIV, Isaiah 14:12-15: "How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to earth, you who once laid low in the nations! [13] You said in your heart, 'I will as ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. [14] I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High. [15] But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit. The NIV takes out Satan's name, Lucifer, and substitutes "morning star." Who is the morning star? Look at these verses: KJV, Rev. 22:16: "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star." NIV, Rev. 22:16: "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star." According to both versions, Jesus is the bright morning star. In fact, the NIV even capitalizes "Morning Star" as a proper name for Jesus. In the previous verses, the King James says that Lucifer (Satan) fell from Heaven and the NIV says that Jesus did. The Trinity KJV, I John 5:7: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." NIV, I John 5:7: "For there are three that testify:" How to be saved KJV, Acts 8:37 "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. NIV, Acts 8:37: This verse is completely omitted in the NIV. The Blood of Jesus KJV, Colossians 1:14: "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sin." NIV, Colossians 1:14: "In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." The blood of Jesus has been omitted from the NIV as the means of forgiveness of sin. Keep in mind these are just a few of the hundreds of changes and omissions from God's perfect Word. To take away from God's Word is to make His Word imperfect and therefore not His Word at all. Even the very scholars that were involved in this evil plot have confessed: "I must under God renounce every attachment to the New American Standard Version, "I'm afraid I am in trouble with the Lord,We laid the ground work; I wrote the format; I helped interview some of the translators; I sat with the translators; I wrote the prefaceI'm in trouble; I can't refute these arguments; it's wrong; it's terribly wrong; it's frighteningly wrong; and what am I going to do about it?.... You can say the KJV is absolutely correct." -- Dr. Franklin Logson, author NASB version preface God has blessed Word of Truth Baptist Church for taking a stand on the King James Version of the Holy Bible. If you would like more information on this important fundamental truth, we have books and literature available. |
